Thought on Project #4

I'm still unsure on what direction I want to go with this project. I do have a few ideas, though. Making a list of likes and dislikes and asking my friends to add to the list would be one idea. Or, listing the streets I lived on would be another. I know I want it to be creative and out of the box.

If I choose to go with the listing streets idea, I was thinking about using google maps as a reference point for all the streets I have lived on and also streets that my friends have lived on. I googled the name of the first street I lived on and found pictures of houses in my neighborhood. I found that interesting.

Streets I lived on...
1. Allequippa St.
2. Burrows St.
3. Oakland St.
4. Community Drive
5. Beechurst Ave.
6. Riverview Court

I lived on Alequippa Street growing up. I moved to Burrows Street the summer before my freshman year of college. My freshman year I lived in Pierpont which was on Oakland Street and my apartment number was 412. It is ironic because I lived in Oakland in my hometown and my area code is 412. My sophomore year I lived on Community Drive in Sterling Ridge apartments. My junior year I lived on the busy street Beechurst Ave. And, finally now I live on Riverview Court. I could use this data on google to identify where I have lived in my lifetime.

Thoughts on Project #4

I am interested in doing my project on conversations I've had with my friends. These conversations could be through text, AIM, or by e-mail. I'm not sure if I want to make it too personally or "scandalous".

Project #3 Metatext

My boyfriend recently introduced me to a guy named Ryan Leslie. I had already seen his video for "Diamond Girl" and "Addiction" and I thought that he was just another singer with no talent, trying to make a name for himself. So, I decided to do a little research on Mr. Leslie and was surprised to find out that he graduated from high school at the age of 15 and then graduated from Harvard at 19. I thought this kid was a boy genius and decided to find some youtube videos on him. I came across the video below on him making the "Addiction" beat by himself. He is an amazing singer/producer/song-writer and my new favorite person in the world because it is rare that you find someone today with his talent level.

After having the song "Addiction" stuck in my head, I decided to use the lyrics for this project. I used the Shannonizer tool for the first text of project #3. I decided to edit the text in God's words. The results were that the "new" song lyrics transformed more into a religious song, with lines like: "I see no other gods before me and you You're my addiction." This parallels with the original song and made me play closer attention to what the song could be interpreted as. At first listen, it appears as though Ryan Leslie wants the girl to know that she is his addiction, i.e., "when [he] looks into the, baby you are all I see." But, when I analyzed the original song, it coincides with when someone says they have an addiction to someone else besides God. This brings up a moral issue because can you really have an addiction to someone and it be greater than your addiction to God.

The second text is addiction according to googlism. Some key aspects of this text was the general sense of addiction, like being addicted to drugs and alcohol. Also, being addicted to God comes up again. "Addiction is a hunger for God" is what googlism came up with and it again is related to the Ryan Leslie song "Addiction."

The third and final text is an Addiction Sonnet. The sonnet's theme is addiction to drugs and alcohol. "I had to drink in the morning to start," is in the third stanza and suggests the addiction of someone who has to drink in the morning in order to start their day. The sonnet also references suboxone which appears to be a drug and alchohol rehab center.

Translated quote from Barack Obama

Since I am a Barack Obama fan, I decided to translate a quote from him on change into French.

Changement ne se fera pas si nous attendons d'une autre personne ou à un autre moment. Nous sommes ceux que nous attendions. Nous sommes le changement que nous recherchons.

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

Response #5

Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" Edited by God

Mmmm to the LORD: Let my stuff Yes, behold, and see if shes home Oops I bet you think I didn't know not take the car that he said: I didn't know bout me I will not know bout How about I'll never ever find a cab Standing in vain; and arise, that's my daughter! And thou after my son of the God of the left In the gate of scarlet, he'll be smitten down before Israel. Arise, nor his maid-servant. Thou shalt not your everything irreplaceable irreplaceable How I'll never ever for you, he'll be here in the car that thou done so? Because you nothing, what is truth of the box to thinkin You're irreplaceable)? Nothing at any thing that jag So don't you, nothing nothing, until our brother unto his ass, to my stuff Yes, behold, my name, talking bout me I say unto his city of the front yard, to the matter is the murderer shall surely be here in a minute baby You got me and said: I say unto his ass, to the LORD thy hand under my stuff Yes, talking bout me. Now therefore, that's my name of Egypt; then the ears of the fish, nothing nothing nothing)? So go move your taxi leaves Standing in sackcloth, that's my bone and see if the smiter and the matter is so easy. Verily, my people go ahead and see if shes home Oops I will make thess swear by tomorrow So go beyond the left In the car that I can have another you by the box to my name thats on that they may serve me You must not defile the LORD thy lips are like a wife for you was putting you a minute baby You must not know bout me You must not defile the front yard, if the LORD: Let my name, and, behold, he'll be here in a pomegranate split open, before me I could have hardened his ass, at all to the LORD spake unto him, he'll be nothing, nor his maid-servant.

Here are the originial lyrics to the song "Irreplaceable"--
Mmmm to the left, to the left
Everything you own in the box to the left
In the closet, that's my stuff
Yes, if I bought it, baby, please don't touch (don't touch)

And keep talking that mess, thats fine
Could you walk and talk, at the same time?
And it's my name thats on that jag
So go move your bags, let me call you a cab

Standing in the front yard, telling me
How I'm such a fool, talking 'bout
How I'll never ever find a man like you
You got me twisted

You must not know 'bout me
You must not know 'bout me
I could have another you in a minute
Matter fact, he'll be here in a minute (baby)

You must not know 'bout me
You must not know 'bout me
I can have another you by tomorrow
So don't you ever for a second get to thinkin'
You're irreplaceable?

So go ahead and get gone
Call up that chick, and see if shes home
Oops I bet you thought, that I didn't know
What did you think
I was putting you out for?
Because you was untrue
Rolling her around in the car that I bought you
Baby, drop them keys
Hurry up, before your taxi leaves

Standing in the front yard, telling me
How I'm such a fool, talking 'bout
How I'll never ever find a man like you
You got me twisted

You must not know 'bout me
You must not know 'bout me
I could have another you in a minute
Matter fact, he'll be here in a minute (baby)

You must not know 'bout me
You must not know 'bout me
I can have another you by tomorrow
So don't you ever for a second get to thinkin'
You're irreplaceable (irreplaceable)?

So since I'm not your everything (irreplaceable)
How about I'll be nothing (nothing)? Nothing at all to you (nothing, nothing)
Baby I won't shed a tear for you (I won't shed a tear for you)
I won't lose a wink of sleep (a wink of sleep)
'Cause the truth of the matter is (truth is)
Replacing you is so easy

Project 2 Reflection

In Project 2, I used sequential writing as a second fundamental feature of multimedia writing through text, images, sequence through links and also a movie of images that I made through movie maker. This project is about my journey from Pittsburgh to WVU and how I wound up in West Virginia. Through sequential writing I was able to tract my journey at WVU from my freshman to senior year.

At the beginning of my project, I used links to images of Kent State University (where I wanted to go to school) and Duquesne University (where my mother wanted me to go to school).I also have images of the flying WV logo and the "Oakland Zoo" logo to represent my roots to the University of Pittsburgh. There is also a link to the sophomore year page that moves my story on sequentially.

On the very last page, which is my Senior year page, is a movie of images that I made through Windows Movie Maker. The pictures are put in sequential order from my freshman to senior year at WVU. I got a little emotional while doing this movie because I have made some many memories during my 4 years here. I would not change any of my experiences in the world or the friends that I have made in college. I'm going to keep this video to remind me of all the memories of my college friends and the things we did during the "best time of our lives."

Here is another link to project 2.
